The Little Lambs School is located in Vijayalakshmi Nagar, Surapet road, Puthagaram; a village 3 km north of Chennai city limits. It is a quiet area, away from the bustling city with its heavy traffic. Water buffaloes graze around the school and especially like the area during monsoon time, when they can take a swim in the water surrounding the school! The school yard has been raised to avoid flooding, so the school can still function on its “island” during rainy weather. Most of the children come from the Perambur area, 5 km from the school. They come to school by the school bus. Most teachers and volunteers also travel by the bus. Perambur is a very congested area, with not much space for children to play, so Little Lambs offer these children a chance to get away from the chaos in the city.
